Thermoelectric properties of finite two-dimensional quantum dot arrays with band-like electronic states

چکیده

The thermal power (PF = S2Ge) depends on the Seebeck coefficient (S) and electron conductance (Ge). enhancement of Ge will unavoidably suppress S because they are closely related. As a consequence, optimization PF is extremely difficult. Here, we theoretically investigated thermoelectric properties two-dimensional quantum dot (QD) arrays with carriers injected from electrodes. Lorenz number 2D QD in resonant tunneling procedure satisfies Wiedemann-Franz law, which confirms formation minibands. When miniband center far away Fermi level electrodes, transport thermionic-assisted (TATP). In this regime, band-like situation atom-like can happen simultaneously. We have demonstrated that an increasing electronic states not TATP.

Electronic States in Three Dimensional Quantum Dot/Wetting Layer Structures

Although self-assembled quantum dots are grown on wetting layers, most simulations exclude the wetting layer. The neglected effects on the electronic structure of a pyramidal InAs quantum dot embedded in a GaAs matrix are investigated based on the effective one electronic band Hamiltonian, the energy and position dependent electron effective mass approximation, and a finite height hard-wall 3D ...

Time evolution of initially localized states in two-dimensional quantum dot arrays in a magnetic field

The evolution of non-stationary localized states jCðt 1⁄4 0Þi is investigated in two-dimensional tight binding systems of N potential wells with and without a homogeneous field perpendicular to the plane. Most results are presented in analytical form, what is almost imperative if the patterns are as complex as for rings in a magnetic field, where the qualitatively different features arise depen...

Variation of energy density of states in quantum dot arrays due to interparticle electronic coupling.

Subnanometer-resolved local electron energy structure was measured in PbS quantum dot superlattice arrays using valence electron energy loss spectroscopy with scanning transmission electron microscopy. We found smaller values of the lowest available transition energies and an increased density of electronic states in the space between quantum dots with shorter interparticle spacing, indicating ...

Thermoelectric performance of PbSe quantum dot films.

The thermoelectric (TE) performance of films of colloidal lead selenide (PbSe) quantum dots (QDs) with metal-chalcogenide complex ligands is seen to change with QD size and temperature. Films of smaller QDs have higher Seebeck coefficient magnitudes, indicating stronger quantum confinement, and lower electrical and thermal conductivities. The thermoelectric figure of merit ZT is ∼0.5 at room te...

Effects of disorder on the blockade voltage of two-dimensional quantum dot arrays

The influence of both geometric and offset charge disorder of two-dimensional quantum dot arrays ~also known as network tunnel junctions! on their Coulomb blockade voltage Vb is studied using extensive Monte–Carlo simulations. A general increase of Vb with increasing disorder is confirmed, but an exception to the rule is found for intermediate degrees of offset charge disorder. Detailed studies...
